Just Host parked domain setup
Posted By CheapHostingChoice on May 21, 2009
JustHost offers unlimited parked domains with its web hosting plan.
What is parked domain?
Parked domain is also known as domain parking, that refers to the registration of a domain name without any associated services such as email or a website.
This may have been done with a view to reserving the domain name for future development, and to protect against the possibility of cybersquatting.
Let’s say you own mysite.com, and you also own mysite.net, mywebsite.com, or even abcd.com, etc. You want all these domains to point to mysite.com site so you “Park” them to your primary site.
A parked domain points a new domain name to the same directory that your primary account points to.
How to setup a parked domain with your just host account?
If you registered your domain with someone other than Just Host, make sure that the name servers are pointing to the servers of JustHost: ns1.justhost.com and ns2.justhost.com. In your Just Host cPanel, select ‘Parked Domains’ under the ‘Domain’ menu and enter the domain name you wish to park in the ‘Create a New Parked Domain’ form, then click “Add Domain!”. Now when someone points to the parked domain, the parked domain will appear in the address bar and your domain will display in the browser.
note: domains must be registered before they can be parked, they will not be functional unless they are configured to point to your name servers.
